Do they use a sedative still, I thought one airline got sued, because the animal had some kind of reaction. Check with your specific airline and ask about the waivers that are signed, that doesn't hold them responsible if the animal dies from someone giving too much. Good Luck and have a safe trip.

I just read in the paper today that most airlines do not permit animals to have tranquilizers before traveling. There are too many risks involved. It is not known how they will react to it, and they could actually die.You should actually have them under your seat. That is the safest way.

usually a low grade antihistamine, but there are plenty of herbal alternatives as well, I would check with your vet. as sedating an animal always has risks.

most airlines do not allow tranquilizers anymore because the place where the animals are stored is pressurized and being so high up that adds extra pressure AND the cabin is heated as well so all of the pressure and heat plus being tranquilized can make their heart sto or cause them to have breathing problems...its best just to see if you can give thema different medicine like benadryll or something like that that will wear off after a few ours. and if it is hot outside find a flight that doesnt have alot of layover to prevent heat exhaustion. hope this helps some
