Where should I go during my travel break between undergrad/grad studies?

So I might be thinking ahead a little too far here (I’m only a freshman in college), but I’ve always assumed that I would travel to really exotic places in the interim between school and real life.

My dad went to Africa, Europe and Central America in his 20s and early thirties. I really want to go some place that isn’t too touristy, but that’s also really scenic. I was thinking Africa, Southeast Asia, or Micronesia.

Any suggestions?

My opinion? Try New Zealand. But if you’re interested to see what millionheads thinks – go to http://www.millionheads.com and ask your question there to tap the collective wisdom of crowds. You’ll get a pie-chart back giving you a definitive answer, rather than a bunch of opinions. Good luck!
